Noticias del amigo sueco Fredrik Wacka dicen que se está investigando cómo construir una copia 3D de la embajada sueca…

InfoWorld has an interview with Joe Miller, Linden Lab’s vice president of platform and technology development, in which he discusses…

The government of Sweden plans to open an embassy in Second Life (http://secondlife.com/).

Abstract:

When you see someone in club dancing, they are generally doing one of three things:

1) They have purchased dance animations from a store and are using their own animations, either individually or in some kind of dance device/HUD to choose them.

2) The club or someone in the club has a dance device that users can click on to join the dance. You don’t have to own any dances to use a dance machine - it will ask for permission to animate you when you click on it, and then you will do whatever dances are in the machine.

3) You will often see blue/pink ballsets in clubs for couple’s dancing - these are special dances synchronized for couples - each user gets on one of the two balls, and then they will dance together.

Abstract:

In order to create animations for Second Life, there are several programs that can now be used. Originally, only Poser could be used, and it is still a great option (versions 4 and up work with SL). For best results, you should download the SL avatar figures for Poser, linked below. Poser is a commercial product, so it does require purchase to use. Poser is available for Windows and Mac.

There is also a popular open source animation client called Avimator available for Windows, Mac and Linux. It has been created specifically for SL. For more information about it, please see the Avimator site linked below. A variation of Avimator, called Qavimator, is also available and being actively developed.

Additionally, some other programs that can export BVH files can be used with SL.

Abstract:

To use the SLUniverse Teamspeak Server for voice chat, you must first have the Teamspeak software installed, which you can download for free - the service itself is also free. The download location of the latest version is linked below. Once you have the software installed, start the program.

1) Once the program loads, select the Connect option from the Connection menu.

2) If you have never configured the server before, you will have a blank server list. Right click on the server list and select Add Server.

3) Give the server you are adding a label, such as SLUniverse.

4) After the new entry is created, it will be selected for you to fill in additional details. Fill in the server name, which is sluniverse.serverroom.us:8877 . Make sure Anonymous is selected, and fill in your desired nickname in the Nickname box - this will be your display name on the server. Also, be certain to fill in the Server password, which is midnight in all lower case. Click Connect to sign in.

5) Once signed in, you should be put into the lobby of the server. Additional rooms can be created by players, so you may also see a list of available rooms to join. When you are in a room, only the other players in that room can hear you speaking. You can switch between channels by right clicking on a channel name and selecting Switch Channel.

6) After signing in, you c…
