No, not in the adult sense. Our very own Lead Blogger, Akela Talamasca, appeared on Intellacast earlier today. They discussed topics such as avatar appearance, why he chooses to be a wolfie, voice chat in SL, and blogging for SLI! I even learned a few things about him. For example, I pronounce his name totally wrong!
What is Intellacast? It’s a regular blog and podcast written and edited by Intellagirl Tully. She is currently using Second Life as a research and education tool.
I found the podcast very interesting. The best quote taken out of context from the session came from Akela. “It’s got mad pecs, yo!”

When John Edwards announced his plan to seek Presidential candidacy, some of his supporters took to the virtual world of Second Life to get the word out. They bought a plot on the mainland in the Onnuri sim. They erected a building and some campaign signs, as well as virtual goodies such as buttons and shirts. To find out more about John Edwards, you can visit his site.
Directly diagonal to the Edwards campaign is one for psychic John Edward. The plot in Kkotsam came about when several griefers were approached by an individual that wanted to see something interesting done relating to the plot across the way. The goons mirrored the John Edwards campaign, replacing theirs with those of John Edward, with the slogan, “He can read minds!” They also released buttons and shirts, as well as hats. When the Edwards team stepped up their game, coming out with shoes, the Edward team came out with panties featuring the face of their ideal candidate. To find out more about the psychic, you can visit his site.
It is not known how the Edwards campaign volunteers feel about the plot at this time, although several griefers have been banned from their plot amidst rumors of a “flying penis attack.” There is only one question that remains. Who will you vote for?

I really don’t do enough furniture shopping. There will always be my favorites, such as Colleen Desmoulins, Barnesworth Anubis, and Maximilian Milosz, but I’ve been trying to branch out. I recently stumbled upon a fairly new designer, Luna Benavente, of avenue four furniture, and I’m in love.
She combines retro and modern looks to her pieces, some of which are pretty low prim! A survey of her business showed at least a few couches that were a whopping 11 prims, as well as some 16 prim beds. The prices are reasonable and the color schemes are just adorable. The real treat, though, is the lighting. She must offer at least 30 different kinds of lights, from hanging, to track, to study lights. You can check her store out for yourself on the Nirvana sim.

The LSL Wiki (run by that superlative sweetheart of the scripter set, Catherine Omega) has returned! The LSL Wiki’s been out of action for quite a while. Too long, really. While there are snapshots of it in earlier stages, and assorted other LSL documents around, there is no better resource for scripters and would-be scripters than Omega’s LSL Wiki.
Arguments with ISPs, inability to transfer the old domain name, a new one purchased. It’s a miracle that Omega was able to pull all the old data and get everything going again - however, it is done, and it’s all back. The wiki, of course, is a testament to the hard work and cooperation of many, not just Omega’s work alone, but she has made this possible, and brought the beast back to life.

When I started blogging for Second Life Insider earlier this month, I mentioned that I was hoping to bridge the gap between the Main Grid and the Teen Grid. At that time, I had submitted my application for a background check and was anxiously awaiting the results. They came back and I received a clean bill of health. In other words, I’m not a felon!
The time has come for my alt, Machinima Guru, to head on over to the Teen Grid. I’ve learned quite a bit about what you can’t do over there. For example, you can’t give or receive inventory, or teleport freely around the grid. I’ll be relegated to GK Machinima Island, where I’ll be working with the teens on Machinima.
In preparation for my move, I’ve raided moo’s inventory for some cute, yet conservative clothing, headed over to ETD for some newbie friendly hair, purchased eyes and eyelashes from Sin Skins, and chose a nice light, freckled Fevrier skin from Tete a Pied. I also grabbed a MystiTool, which I absolutely can’t live without, and a tiny cow avatar from Wynx Whiplash. See, one other thing I learned is that I can’t shop over there. I’m a major shopaholic, so the idea of not being able to support their economy devastates me.
Soon, I’ll be bringing my stories of life on the Teen Grid to Second Life Insider. I’ll also have the chance to chat with the teens in their native environment and find out their opinion on things. I hope that you’ll enjoy these experiences as much as I will!

As mentioned previously on the blog, Second Life is closed at the moment for scheduled maintenance. The maintenance is expected to take from 7:00am through 11:00am PST (that’s 15:00-19:00 GMT).
Logins on the Beta Test Grid will need to be disabled for about the first hour of maintenance work, but will then be opened up.
I’ll post updates here as the maintenance work progresses. Note that the news is likely to be slow and boring unless a crisis occurs, at which point I may be too busy to post.
UPDATE - 9:23am: Maintenance work is complete, and Second Life is open again. Thanks for your patience!
