Today in Second Life we had:

• 22,885 new signups bringing us to 8,522,308 signups total.
• A peak concurrency of 42,519 at 2:47PM, and a minimum concurrency of 21 at 11:01AM. Median concurrency for the day was 33,224.
• Linden Lab says they had configuration issues which caused load-bearing problems across the grid. That said, we’ve had some increasing asset and rezzing issues as the evening has worn on, as well as support portal downtime and an emergency login closure earlier today.
• Join us for episode 16 of SLI’s very own podcast, On The Inside, with special guests, Frogg Marlowe and Jaycatt Nico. Now with 10% more blazing nuns.
• Ginko Financial seems to essentially be doomed. The WSE isn’t doing so well either. Eloise has the summary.

Someone’s going to be happy about this, if they don’t already know about it. Inter Milan, which I assume to be the name of a Futbol team, has opened its own area in SL for fans. Is that right? I’m here to bring the news to you, friends, even if I don’t understand it.

Aside from the poster’s ‘irrational hatred’, there’s not much else to the post to warrant comment. Has anyone been here? Is it cool? I don’t know; I’m asking!

Thursday, August 2nd 2007, 1:30pm SL Time will see the first official race at MyControl Speedway, where everyone is invited to compete. There will be a free practice session at 10, followed by the qualifying session at 12:30. Main race starts at 1:30, with a prize of 2100L for the offering.

Any vehicles are welcome. Go check it out!

Well, it’s hardly a secret that we’ve been seeing a lot of simulator outages in the last 48 hours. This one - well, this set of them caught the eye of the sharp-eyed Carl Metropolitan.

Is it a fire-break against a goo attack? Is it a crash caused by some common factor that’s tickling a bug in all these sims? Are they all in the same rack and there’s something affecting the equipment there?

Heck, maybe someone’s trying sky-writing with sim-crashers. What do you think?

Listen, regardless of your personal creed or religion, chances are two things are likely: 1) You’re already part of a religious group in SL, and 2) You would prefer to avoid extra-religious proselytizing. However, this article reveals that the Catholic church might be looking at SL and other such virtual spaces as ripe areas for mission work.

People, we’re all adults here. We can make our own choices. Do we really need someone coming in to a Gorean dance club asking the masses if they’ve accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior? No offense, Catholics, but SL is probably not the fertile ground you were led to believe it is. But hey, what do I know? I’m an Animist. Give it a shot, what have you got to lose?
