Technology and sexuality blogger Violet Blue is writing a new book (link NSFW) about online relationships and wants to hear from Second Lifers.

Second Life has been literary fodder for sex writers since its earliest days. Last year, syndicated columnist Dan Savage set off a heated debate among avatars when he wrote Second Life sex wasn’t adultery. “‘No sex in SL, honey, promise’ is simply ‘Of course I don’t think of anyone else when we make love’ updated for the technology age,” Savage said.

Blue wants to revisit the topic in depth. She’s looking to speak with avatars if you:

  • Are in a real-life, long term relationship and enjoy sex online with someone who is not your real-life or committed partner.
  • Are in a real-life, long term relationship and *your avatar* enjoys sex online with another avatar who is not your real-life or committed partner.
  • Have a real-life lover or bf/gf/tf, and cruise for sex online in chatrooms, MMORPG’s, cams, other.
  • Are techno-poly: you have an IRL partner (or partners, or swing), and have online sexual participants. who have a relationship in Second Life outside their “real life” relationship.

“I’m also looking to interview people who have fallen in love, and gotten married in Second Life (and other MMORPGs),” Blue told Reuters. “Avatar marriages are a central topic.”

Blue said avatars interested in being interviewed via email should contact her at “violet at tinynibbles dot com”.
